Digital Comics Sites
teachingliteracy: Top 10 Sites for Creating Digital Comics by David Kapuler Creating Digital Comics has been one of my favorite thing to do with students when trying to integrate technology. While this can be done with any number of applications, such as Comic Life or Toon Boom, there are many online alternatives (mostly free) that offer a nice solution as well. A few days ago I posted a wish for a rainy day so I could catch up on reading and NPR podcasts. But I didn’t have the worst wind storm in over 70 years in mind!

Going Viral: On being hearted and hated on line!
Interesting week as two of my Tumblr -ed photos got liked and re blogged and I attracted my first piece of hate mail in response to one of my tweets in support of #NPR. Just so u know, I don’t consider being called a feminist to be an insult! Thinking of setting up a second Tumblr blog just for photos.

My name is 2muchmedia and I am an appleholic!
It all started with a laptop, then led to two iPods, an iPhone, a big honking oversized desktop, and finally, my fav, an iPad.  Now I am lusting after the new Air and the new iPod touch with the face time camera.  I am OK with sticking with my old iPhone since I almost never use the phone part anyway.  And then I need to buy the latest iLife software.   The new Lincoln Park Apple Store opens...

Spoiler Alert! Thanksgiving Dinner Early Bird
We are hosting four visiting Japanese public officials for dinner tomorrow night so I decided to make a mini me early bird Thanksgiving Dinner. Got a fresh Turkey Breast to cook in my convection oven and have made the stuffing today and will buy root veggies to oven roast from the Green City Market tomorrow along with one of Hoosier Mama’s tasty pies.

ARGHH! Ahoy there me pretties!
I do have a pirate fetish and a Johnny Depp crush. The pirate addiction dates back to when I was six and my dad read me Treasure Island. It took several weeks as I recall. And the Deppster crush? Well, duh! Check out pirate pallooza on NPR!

Why I Need A Rainy Day
We have had such a glorious fall here in Chicago, warmer, sunnier than usual, it is hard to stay inside. I am missing curling up in the recliner with a mug of tea and a stack of library books or my iPad and the forty spare hours it will take me to clear my NPR playlist…and that’s assuming I resist that little icon that adds to my playlist. Good thing I don’t watch much TV.

Harvest bounty
The wondrous Green City organic farmer’s market in Lincoln Park in Chicago is drawing to a close the end of the month, when it moves to its winter home at the Peggy Notebart Museum. Wednesdays and Saturdays usually found us in search of seasonal delights, from the early rhubarb and tiny peas through the bounty of July and August and onto the fall harvest, cider, apples and pears and all...

Favorite Recipes? →
nprfreshair: Harold McGee is coming on Fresh Air tomorrow to discuss, among other things, how to reduce the smell of fish, why foods change flavors when cooked (or when they’re accidentally left in the freezer for several months) and what the best ways are to thicken a sauce. Seems like a good time to share some favorite winter recipes/food tumblrs. Any favorites?

Are the Humanities Obsolete?
Interesting discussion today about the value of a liberal arts education with alum rep from my alma mater, University of Illinois. With funding from the state of Illinois now down to 18 per cent, the U is under tremendous pressure to provide a first class education at an affordable price. And to preserve a place for liberal art and the humanities. Signed, an aging English Major.
